Red pajamas and red wine

S. is dancing around the kitchen in the red flannel penguin pajamas and penguin socks I bought her in Calgary to make up for the fact that I left her alone for a week. And while she was impressed and thrilled that I had dared to buy her clothes (after almost 16 years, I'm starting to take chances) she still had to go back to La Sensa to exchange them. I was sure a medium would fit her but forgot to take into account how unbelievably silly women's fashion is. Who would have thought that pajama bottoms would be low-rise? (can you see me shaking my head?) So now they're comfortable in the waist but baggy everywhere else. Oh well, they are pajamas...

What is it about November that makes me want to cook with a glass of red wine in my hand. This never happens in the summer. Alas, no red wine is on hand, and a beer will have to do. Fortification for what's to come: S. is going to teach me what I missed in last week's salsa lesson (and how I got roped into dance classes, I'll never figure out). OK, I admit it, it's kind of fun, and the music is cool. Just don't ask me to dance with anyone else.

Penguin Pyjamas! Sounds like a winner :)

-- how about a picture of them (with or without S inside!) -- and are they available in Europe (hanging out with a Linux fan has its obligations).

Seriously, you should also experience the frustrations of posting photos to a blog...

Aisha, in boring pastel-tartan pyjamas and off to bed)

Well, I searched the web and couldn't find a picture of them (kind of unbelievable, actually), and I don't have a digital camera, so you'll just have to use your imagination!

I look good in red -- not sure about penguins ...

Good night-- and don't forget to try that Extreme Sport I introduce tonight in my blog.
Say bonne nuit to Sonia too!

I knew it! It is the way you spell pyjamas with two a's!

I can't believe you'd spell pajamas with only 2 As. It makes me weep.
Rebecca, in longjohns but not the pirate or the kind with the flap in the back

OOOHHHH! Speaking of flaps, I love nothing better than a word flap. Serves me right for trusting MSWord's spell check. My parents are both European, so I grew up with "pyjamas" (still 2 a's, mind you), and the Canadian Oxford (and I hope everyone knows that this is the One True Dictionary) defines it under the "y" version, giving the "a" version as a North American variant. So, I stand corrected.

Anyway, Aish, the penguins on Sonia's PJs (without the flap) are on skis (how cute is THAT?) and there aren't as many as on the link you gave, but they're quite similar. Thanks for the research.

Eliot, midnight curling in red flannel pyjamas anyone? (talk about inspiration for a poem!)

Rebecca, my grandfather used to sing a naughty song about "granny's red drawers," which had a "hole in the back, so granny can..." Well, you get the picture.

Well, I CAN think of a better way, but obviously, that's not possible when I'm out of town ;-)
